If there’s one item you consistently pack in your beach bag or fanny pack this summer, let it be sunscreen. We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays when we’re on vacation and lounging poolside all day long, but sunscreen isn’t just a beach day necessity—it should be an essential step in everyone’s daily skincare routine. To help you find a broad spectrum SPF product you actually love and want to use everyday, we turned to one of our team's favorite sunscreen brands—Supergoop. Over the last few months, Condé Nast Traveler editors tested out every single Supergoop product—and measured them against products we already know and love, like Unseen—to help find you the very best sprays, lotions, and balms to wear this summer and beyond.
In case the skincare brand is new to you, here's a little backstory: Supergoop launched in 2005 with the goal of making sunscreen more accessible and now has dozens of SPF products designed to protect your face, body, lips, scalp, hands, and more. As avid travelers, we appreciate the range of sizes available, including TSA-approved minis that fit neatly into your personal item. It’s long been a trusted brand of our editors, but with so many options to choose from, it can be hard to know what products are most deserving of a spot in your Dopp kit. We tested products across all categories, with both mineral and chemical sunscreen options included, to determine the best of the best.
Eight editors each tested a few different products so we could compare which ones we loved and which we weren’t as crazy about. We used the sunscreens for a few months—wearing them for day to day activities, on beach vacations, and underneath makeup. We paid close attention to the formulas, how products worked on our varying skin types, the packaging, and overall, how well the SPF actually worked. After rating and reviewing all of the brand’s many products—including some we've used for years—we narrowed it down to a dozen of Supergoop's best sunscreen products. Read on for the 12 stand-out SPFs we recommend most.
If you’re at all familiar with Supergoop, you’ve likely heard about Unseen Sunscreen—one of the brand’s most popular products that has rightfully earned itself a cult following. This scentless, invisible sunscreen with SPF 40 is completely weightless and works well on all skin types—it received praise from several editors with varying skin types (dry, oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin). This was the very first Supergoop product I ever tried and it's still my favorite: It feels like a velvety smooth primer on the skin with barely any dry time needed and it looks great underneath makeup, too. Senior commerce editor Madison Flager has been using it for about two years and it’s still the one she always packs on beach vacations or trips where she know she'll be at a pool, hiking, or otherwise spending a good amount of time outdoors.
Sizes available: .68 oz., 1 oz., and 1.7 oz.

The award for best 100 percent mineral sunscreen goes to this oil-free SPF 40. Traveler's global associate director of social Mercedes Bleth avoids chemical sunscreens, so she’s tested her fair share of mineral formulas over the years. "It comes out of the tube as a sort of mousse that feels velvety on the skin; it’s very lightweight, goes on smoothly, and dries completely matte” she says of Supergoop's Mattecreen. She likes that it doesn’t pill over other skincare products and that since it has a very light tint, it acts like a nice base layer of foundation. Mineral sunscreen often infamously leaves a white cast behind, but there’s no need to worry about that with this formula. Bleth’s only complaint: She wishes Mattescreen was available in multiple shades due to the light tint it has; otherwise, it’s perfect.

Another Supergoop sunscreen that has gone viral on social media is Glowscreen. It’s one of my all-time favorite face sunscreens, but this one is all about the glow. It gives a glowy, dewy finish to skin while providing SPF 40 protection—ideal for little to no-makeup days. Flager has been reaching for this one to give her skin a boost of radiance when she hasn’t gotten as much sun to even out her skin tone. The original Glowscreen in the shade Sunrise was so popular that the brand has since launched three additional shades—Dawn, Golden Hour, and Sunset. It’s lightly tinted without looking glittery or unnatural.
Sizes available: .68 oz. and 1.7 oz.
Supergoop set out to create a universal sunscreen that would work well on every single face—and they delivered with this SPF 50 watery lotion. Don’t be alarmed by its white color when you first apply this one—it blends in completely clear and leaves no white-cast behind. Travel bookings editor Alex Erdekian appreciates how the texture of the formula is moisturizing and gave her face an ever-so-slightly dewy sheen without being greasy or oily to the touch. “The consistency is light, thin, watery, and blendable under concealer and foundation. This doesn't seem to be a super heavy-duty sunscreen for a marathon beach day, but for light exercise or your everyday sunscreen, it's a great bet in my book,” she says. It’s water- and sweat-resistant and safe to use on even the most sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Sizes available: 1.7 oz.
For those with dry skin, the Superscreen daily moisturizer with SPF 40 is for you. It’s formulated with antioxidants and skin repair actives to provide intense hydration and protection. It’s non-greasy, wears well underneath makeup, and leaves a hydrating finish without a white-cast. While this daily moisturizer is best for those with dry skin, Traveler commerce producer Paris Wilson has oily skin and this didn’t exasperate it. Since the consistency is quite thick, it’s a great way to combine your daily skincare needs with sun protection. Out of all Wilson’s moisturizers, she gravitates toward this one in the morning.

For the skincare obsessed, the Daily Dose Hydra-Ceramide Boost with SPF 40 helps replenish and protect the skin barrier to lock in extra moisture. This hydrating face oil is packed with key skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, squalane, and pre- and post-biotic complex. These ingredients work to boost the skin's hydration while protecting from sun damage, blue light, and pollution. Articles director Lale Arigoklu adores this face oil—it even kept her skin moisturized and protected while traveling in the Amazon.

I've struggled to find an eye cream that doesn't irritate my eyes or my sensitive skin. This 100 percent mineral eye cream surprised me in the best way: It didn't cause any irritation and left my undereyes with a subtle, illuminating glow—an essential for mornings when I'm lacking sleep, and especially after a long flight. Because my eyes are very sensitive, I'm always hesitant to add SPF to an already delicate area, but it's still important to protect this region from the sun—especially since the skin under our eyes is very thin and even more prone to UV damage and hyperpigmentation. Formulated with probiotics and caffeine to awaken the skin, this eye cream provides SPF 40 protection, brightens dark circles, and filters blue light. It's also a great primer for makeup—just give it a few minutes to fully set before applying any concealer over it to avoid pilling.

If you're already obsessed with Glowscreen for your face, you simply must try Glowscreen Body. This is Spurrell's favorite body sunscreen: “If I have exposed skin that needs sunscreen, that means it's summer, in which case I would never turn down a shimmer in favor of something without! This sunscreen feels creamy and easy to apply, even when I'm salty or sweaty at the beach,” Spurrell says. Similarly to Glowscreen for your face, this airy body lotion adds an illuminating glow while offering SPF 40 protection. It's water- and sweat-resistant, hydrates skin, and leaves a dreamy, luminous tint ideal for vacation days (just be mindful of putting white clothes on while wearing this as there is a gold-ish hue that can transfer to clothing).
Sizes available: 3.4 oz.
Play Everyday lotion with sunflower extract is the brand's original broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen and its designed for both face and body. Many of our editors know and love this one as their go-to body sunscreen. It's water- and sweat-resistant for 80 minutes, fast-absorbing, and provides protection from UVA, UVB, and IRA rays. This is great body sunscreen to reach for no matter what's on the itinerary, whether you're going for a long run, headed for a swim, or spending the day outdoors camping. It's available in two carry-on friendly sizes, a 5.5-ounce container, and even a large pump with 18 ounces of sunscreen—ideal for the whole family.
Sizes available: 1 oz., 2.4 oz., 5.5 oz., 18 oz.
If you prefer a body spray at the beach over a lotion, the Play Antioxidant Body Mist with Vitamin C is a solid choice. It's a non-aerosol spray, sweat- and water-resistant, and feels very lightweight on the skin. Traveler's associate manager of social media Kayla Brock loves that it provides SPF 50 protection, comes in a travel size, and blends in so easily. Flager also gave this one her stamp of approval: “It sprays on smoothly, smells nice, and gives full-body coverage," she says. On a hot day at the beach, it's easy to spray this on to reapply sunscreen and feels more refreshing than a lotion.
Sizes available: 3 oz., 6 oz.
This little tin has been the perfect addition to Bleth's everyday tote bag. The 100 percent mineral sun balm is designed for spot-soothing dry or cracked skin while offering SPF 40 UV protection. “I love the packaging (no plastic!) and that I always have sun protection with me thanks to its compact size,” Bleth says. “I prefer using it as a spot treatment for hands, tattoos, and ears. I suffer from constantly dry and cracked knuckles, so I like that this can double as a moisturizing balm, too.” She warns it goes on with a bit of a cast, so it may not work as well for travelers with darker skin tones, but that it’s not too greasy. This is a miracle balm for travelers in extreme climates or altitudes who could use extra nourishment in some spots.
Sizes available: 1 oz.
Rounding out our list of the best Supergoop products, something to protect a spot you don't want to forget: your lips! There's nothing worse than dry, cracked, or peeling lips after getting too much sun exposure. I've tried out many SPF lip balms and this one is my favorite. Formulated with hydrating shea butter, it's moisturizing without being sticky. It reminds me of the consistency of another tried-and-true lip balm I love, Aquaphor. This one has a light minty flavor, and is available in acai, too.
